| Further Information: A large weevil reaching up to 15mm in length. It has a distinct lateral white stripe on its forewings and the bottom of the abdomen (sometimes spotted) and more importantly a large frontal pit but this needs a magnifying lens to determine. Its distribution is central and southern Europe and common in Mediterranean region. It wanders on many plants but often on Chenopodiaceae and Amaranthaceae, sometimes being injurious to beet. This species was recorded back in 1907 by Cameron and Caruana Gatto as Lixus junci. |
